How can I rank on Google as high as ____________?

So I get this question asked a lot.

  • How can I rank like this ________________.com website?

  • Can you get me to the same ranks as autopartswarehouse.com with your SEO program?

  • Even better

  • Will your $150 SEO program get me to the same ranking as ____________?

Here is my answer to this question our SEO program does not have some magic dust that will rank you overnight and all of a sudden you will be ranked for thousands of keywords next to your biggest competitor.

Our SEO program is structured to rank you for X amount of keywords, and depending on the keyword the ranking will vary. Typically the $150/mo program will rank you for about 50-200 organic keyword in one year, while the $550/mo SEO program will rank you for about 200-1000 organic keywords in the same period. Yes even though we dont advertise it you can still inquire with us if you have that kind of budget.

So if you want rank next to Victoriatire.com or CarID.com . simply do the math.

I use a website called http://www.spyfu.com. They not only show you how much organic keywords your competitor is ranked for but also how much they spend overall on online PPC (pay per click) advertising.

CarID.com is:

  • Ranked for 24,000 plus organic keywords

  • They get $11,400 worth of FREE Traffic Per day

  • But they also pay about $30,000 per day in advertising

VictoriaTire.com is:

  • Ranked for 1,586 plus keywords

  • They get $3,420 worth of FREE Traffic Per day

  • But they also pay about $75 per day in PPC advertising

So the Math is simple, if you want to come even close to someone like Victoriatire in one year, you will have to invest $550 x 12 = $6600 to rank your website to come even close. To guarantee that you meet or exceed their ranking we would have to do 3 times as much work in one year. Yes we can get it all done in one year but you will have to pay close to $20,000 for the SEO during that one year.

Did they really pay this much for their SEO? ABSOLUTELY! if not MORE!

Is it better to building SEO organically or pay Google via PPC? Organic SEO is hands down the best Return on your Investment. However if you do this the smart way, both organic and paid can be very profitable.

PPC was great at no point in time because there were no competitors. The average bid per keyword was $0.05 - $0.10 per click back in 2001. Today you will pay at least $1.00 and up to $4.00 for that same click.

Here is a very cool Formula that I recently created that will help you estimate if it is worth to pay for advertising or investing in organic SEO.

YOU CAN DOWNLOAD THE SPREADSHEET WITH THE FORMULA HERE

But here is a quick estimate based on my Formula for VictoriaTire. I took what QuantCast.com for their website traffic and I multipled it by two (since Quantcast is usually off by two)

FORMULA

Monthly Organic Visitors 70000 Bounce Rate 60% Actual Visitors 42000 Gross Dollar Per Visitor $2 Gross Earnings per Month $84000 Earning Per Visitor $1.2 Estimated Profit Margin 30% Estimated Monthly Net Profit $25200

Advertising in PPC Monthly = $2250

Their Initial Investment for Organic SEO 3 years ago was approximately $15,000.

As you can see investing $15,000 one time to get $25,000 in net profit month after month is a great Return on Investment. They pay very little in PPC and still get amazing traffic.

On the other hand comparing this to PPC that CarID is conducting:

Formula

Monthly Organic Visitors 900,000 Bounce Rate 60% Actual Visitors 540000 % of Recurring Customers 0.001% Recurring Customers 5.4 Recurring Sales per Recurring Customer 2 Average Sale $100 Recurring Gross Earning Sales per Month $810 Gross Dollar Per Visitor $1.5 Gross Earnings per Month $810,801 Earning Per Visitor $0.900891 Estimated Profit Margin 30% Estimated Net Profit $243,240.57

Advertising in PPC Monthly = $900,000

Their are on a suicide mission right now they just dont know it. They actually just initiated this so perhaps their sales will double. But even if they quadruple their net sales, they will still go negative because they would have just broken even on advertising, while they still have to pay for overhead expenses. Very stupid move on their part.

The only time it is worth spending on PPC, is if you can depend on recurring sales each month (such as Wholesale customers or conducting an Email Marketing auto-responder campaign per customer acquisition) or if you have a very high profit on a certain product.

Lets say CarID invested in our $150 per month SEO plan right now. Here would be their results:

Average Keyword Traffic per Month 100 Keywords Ranked per Month 2 Earning per Website Visitor $0.90 Total ONETIME Expense for Organic SEO for the 2 keywords: $150 Total Revenue from Organic SEO $180.17

Your Organic Expense over 12mo is: $12.5

So you would invest only $12.50 on a 12 month timeframe and get a return of $150 per month over and over. (Considering you chose the right keywords and you have the product that people are looking for).

Sure this is $180 in gross sales. Which say at 20% profit margin is only $36. This means it will take approximately 4 months to recover the $150 investment cost and on in the long term you will have a positive net revenue and keep building a real asset.

CONCLUSION:

Organic SEO pays OFF. If you rank for the right keywords. I recommend going for it.

PPC can be a profitable, but can also be a suicide if you have no idea what your doing. I recommend playing around with it using the free Google Adword Coupons and start very VERY slow.

If you want to be next to your top competitor you have to do a mix of both. Research what they do using SpyFu and try to match their Organic ranking first, then move on to the Paid Advertising.
