I SOLD MY COMPANY TO START A NEW ONE

In 2005, I watched a 15 minute video that made me sell my company and start a new one. It has been my tradition to watch this same video every year, and I wanted to share this video with you today.

When we first started in eCommerce in 2001, it was just my brother Nick Soshkin and I. We had $20,000 to start the business. Fast track to 2005, we hit peak gross sales of three million dollars. If you want to read the rest of the story it is on page 9 of our Pitchdeck.

In 2005, I watched a video of a famous person tell a few stories to a crowd of Stanford graduates. Ive watched that video several times, because the first time you watch it, it triggers a lot of emotions. The problem with emotions is they lead you to temporary and impulsive decisions that do nothing for your long term success. If you get motivated on emotion, it will run dry in a matter of weeks, if not days. Just think about all of your New Year resolutions, and how they turned out.

The reason I am so grateful for this video, because I followed the speakers advice. His advice was to ask yourself a question every morning, If this was my last day alive, would I want to do what I will do today?, and if the answer is no for too many days, then you need to change something.

I did! In 2006, I sold my eCommerce company and started a new one in 2007. Shopping Cart Elite was the name of the new company, and the reason I started it because I knew that I would love it forever! I am a visionary, and I love working with entrepreneurs to solve their challenges.

Today, I am proficient at what I do, because Shopping Cart Elite allows me to take the driver seat in my clients business. By using many of the automated tools that Shopping Cart Elite offers, I can get my clients business to the next level. Some clients challenges require tweaks to be implemented within the software. We developed Shopping Cart Elite from the ground-up, and with ten full time developers, I can customize and modify the software quickly to my clients needs.
