The Google war on FREE CLICKS continues. You are now required to have unique content or you will literally not rank, no matter how many backlinks you have.

How do you check if you have unique content for FREE? Simply go to your product page or article, copy the title or any sentence in your description or bullet points, and paste it into Google. If there is at least a dozen websites that show as have the same exact phrase, you dont have unique content. If you find less than a dozen, it would still be wise to change. If you find thousands of websites with that content, thats when you know you are in trouble.

Google quietly released a new feature in Google Webmaster Tools called Index Status located under Health > Index Status > Advanced. What it shows you is how many webpages Google has looked at on your website and how many they decided to put a part of the Google Index and how many they decided to ignore.

If you have thousands of products and you have thousands of ignored pages, now you know why.

WHY IS THIS IMPORTANT

Well before you can even rank your website with backlinks, Google needs to save your webpages on their servers. This is called the Google Index. If Google finds your pages are not unique, they will not save it, therefore there is nothing to rank.

So before you can even consider doing SEO you need to make sure they are all in the Google Index.

So how do you fix this problem?

Creating Unique Descriptions

Even though, this is a time consuming task, this should not be ignored. As an online retailer, this is your only leverage to stand out from your competitor by convincing your visitor to buy from you instead of someone else. Spin your descriptions

It might seem like a simple task, just press a button, and you are done. As you know everything that sounds too good to be true, usually has its faults.

The two biggest problems with spinning:

a) Garbage Content We are talking about your descriptions here, the text that is supposed to sell your product. Yes, you can spin the description and make it unique, you will rank and get traffic, but no one is going to buy it from you, especially when they look at your content and see that it was written by someone from China, who speaks Chinese.

b) Uniqueness Even if you happen to spin the description and make sense of it, you might not have enough uniqueness in it to change Googles mind about ranking you. They are well aware about content spinning, and they fight against it by forcing you to have at least 70% uniqueness.

c) Duplicate Copies Finally if you end up getting past A and B, you still have a problem that the next guy who sells the same product with the same description will trigger the same script and get 100% identical content as you. This means you will better enter the market first before anyone else and trigger your content. This is first come, first serve.

RESOLUTION

We are not able to solve the C problem, as this is out of our control. However, we did happen to solve A and B. To address the garbage content problem, we tested multiple spinner algorithms and came up with a formula that allows us to trigger the rewrites while still making sense of the content. We tested over 100 descriptions, and we felt comfortable that the rewrites were good enough for people to buy the product.

To address the uniqueness problem, we started doing multiple rewrites while still keeping the quality content. So we would trigger up to three rewrites of the same description to get 50% - 60% uniqueness from the original copy.

To address the duplicate copies, we recommend our customers to Google the term they want to rank for and copy the content from one of the top ten websites, and enter it as a product description or article. After you trigger the content spinner, you will end up with a unique piece of content that is guaranteed to rank in Google.

INTEGRATION

We will be rolling this spinner in Shopping Cart Elite, which will rewrite your articles and product descriptions. We are building a wizard that will be push button easy. The only thing you will have to do is copy the content from someone else, if you are data sharing the products (if you are not, you should be able to press the button and enjoy unique content), and you will have good quality unique content without a lot of work.

P.S. This doesnt mean you should ignore, and forget about rewriting all your descriptions, you should do it slowly. The spinner is made as a work around for you to keep your ranking.

I DONT HAVE TIME TO GO SCOUT FOR CONTENT TO SPIN

You dont really need that much content, for example if you have 50 brands on your website, each brand might have only 30 products. We are talking about 1500 products total, or 1500 custom descriptions that you need.
