    Shopify withheld funds that they stated would be disbursed to me on November 17th.I contacted them numerous times to no avail.
    Shopify payments owed me a payout for orders #**** and #**** which were due to be paid to me in September which was not fulfilled. Shopify later told me that they were suspending my services because of risk and would pay remaining balance pending any disputes in 60 days.I later contacted and James O****** told me I would receive my funds on November 17,2015.During,the time I did have one chargeback which I expected to be deducted from my balance.I contacted again to confirm the November 17th date and once again I was told the 11/17 date by Frank B*******.The 17th came and no funds were disbursed to me .I then attempted to contact again to receive a answer as to when to expect my funds.I was eventually contacted and told my funds were held because of a chargeback then three hours later they notified me I had two chargebacks instead of the initial one.Shopify refuses to relinquish any funds to me after they gave me a date and suspended my service with them.It is now approaching 90 days since initial expected payout.Shopify did not honor the date they gave me on two seperate occasions nor did they notify me of the change.As,a resolution I offered to keep some funds on reserve for potential chargebacks and I heard zero response back from them. - See more at:

  • "Shopify has a terrible inventory system..."

    Shopify does not have a proper inventory system in place. You can ONLY enter the price you are selling something for and there is no place for you to enter your cost of goods.

    This is a very important and something that they do not point out to you and actually are very misleading about when they are selling their pos product to you.

    The customer service will not let you talk to any management if you are not satisfied with their answer. TERRIBLE ATTITUDES!!!!!!!

  • "Shopify Falsely Claims Search Ranking Will be Maintained..."

    Shopify says your search engine ranking will be restored after moving from another platform. WRONG! I migrated to Shopify from GoDaddy/Frontpage configuration. I spent 3 months building the new store, following Shopify's instructions for 301 redirects from the old site. I chose Shopify over other platforms because they said search engine rankings would not be hurt, and my shop was already on page 1 for most keywords and doing about $100K in annual sales.

    Shopify support forums EXPLICITLY CLAIM that existing search rankings would be restored after migration, after a "short" down time while bots re-crawled for the new site.

    When I switched over, with much trepidation, my site visitors went down to single digits as expected. What was not expected was that it stayed that way for 4 MONTHS before inching up to double digits. They were triple digits before the move.

    I have lost an estimate $50,000 in revenue, based on the previous year's sales. I am not the only one. Search on the Shopify support forums and you will find MANY EXISTING COMPANIES who have had the same problem.

    So, while the arrogant founding programmers are getting very, very rich, most customers will not be in business long, even those who were doing well in the first place. DON"T USE SHOPIFY!!

  • "Shopify - Weak Technical Support and NO charge back process that allow their customers quick efficient and just decision making..."

    I can not underline enough the lack of customer support. We are the customers; yet Shopify repeatedly refused and neglected to return our numerous calls to clarify or correct chargebacks . We track and require signatures on all items shipped. This fact seems to fall on deaf Shopify ears. They simple initiate a charge back and the customer (not the consumer) has to defend it. That is OK if Shopity actually returned our calls or e-mail. No names are provided simply form letters that, when submitted, never get answered.

    Additionally, the support team does not know how to perform coding for our website expansion and color option additions. They sent us a canned procedure that did not work even after repeated meticulous attempts by our programmer and designer to implement the coding. We have not been able to add the color option yet and there is nobody returning calls.

    It appears, Shopify has never heard of the customer driven business model.

  • "Shopify Ecommerce - Horrible Downtime - Broken Servers - Poor Service..."

    If you read Shopify's website they talk about all the great things they can do for your business.....BUT THEY DON'T MENTION THE INCREDIBLE WASTEFUL AMOUNTS OF DOWNTIME YOU WILL EXPERIENCE. We've only been with them for a few weeks, but we've seen the back end (admin) platform crash multiple times - completely locking us out of our business. We've seen the front end CRASH NUMEROUS TIMES completely blocking us out of the front end of our site - not to mention SHOWING ERROR PAGE AFTER ERROR PAGE to our customers.

    Not to mention that we have PAID TRAFFIC - GOOGLE AND BING PAY PER CLICK (PPC) CUSTOMERS coming to our site to find ERROR PAGES, ETC. Yes, we left Yahoo because they've gotten worse with features and other things - but even Yahoo never had DOWN TIME like this. THINK HARD AND THINK TWICE before you use Shopify. And if you're a Shopify customer already and you're reading this - go into the forums every time that they have down time and encourage people to post complaints on pissed consumer.

    Maybe then, with a little public humiliation, they'll put some money and some HUMANS into their servers....And then maybe they can do away with the TEAM OF MONKEYS RUNNING AROUND WITH WRENCHES AND SCREW DRIVERS THAT ARE CURRENTLY WORKING IN THEIR SERVER ROOMS....

    In fact, I'm posting this complaint while I'm waiting in line for a chat session with someone from Shopify...So that's why I took the time to post this complaint...because our websites are completely down and we can't see the front or back end of it.

    Horrible service that completely goes against ALL OF THE GREAT PROMISES ON THEIR MAIN WEBSITE.

  • "Shopify Customer Service Policy: It's Not Our Problem..."

    Shopify's customer service policy seems to be, no, we won't try anything to see if we can help solve the glitch.You need to go try even more troubleshooting because we won't lift a finger even though it's on our end and we insist that it's not.

    Had this problem several times and nothing changes after I complain. Horrible horrible company.

    Even after providing proof that this issue isn't on my end...they scratch their heads and say, "well, my specialists are sure it's not us.Maybe you should try again." I have never had such horrible customer service

  • "Shopify - Would Not Payout..."

    I had Shopify for every bit of 3 months and they sent me a email stating I was a high-risk and that they would no longer be able to process my payments.As a result they said they would hold my funds for 60 days.Well the date they gave me has come and gone and I still do not have my funds.They will steal your money and when you try and contact them about it they will give you the runaround.There is no point of contact for the billing/payment department for customers.If,you want to receive your money and have someone to speak to directly STAY AWAY FROM SHOPIFY!!!!!!

  • "Shopify scamming..."

    I was paid by a customer via shopify pos and never been paid by shopify. They have no explanation or any authorised person to contact me. I have tried many times to contact them but the problem is unsolved cant even reach any person to explain me what is going on.So what i am sayoing its been almost a month now and shopify havent paid my money(by the way the customer got his product 10 days ago)and never given me an expalantion,never kept in touch with me.all they do is sending me tickets with no solutions.

  • "Review about Shopify..."

    My company just recently lost a chargeback dispute as well...We had a purchase of about $3,000 and shopify recommended we refund the money because it matches fraudulent patterns.


    So we did. Apparently we refunded everything but the shipping charges by accident ($18), and there was a chargeback issued by the scammer customer for the full $3,000. We began a dispute, and Shopify basically told us we needed to talk to the credit card company (they didn't know who it was) and speak with the buyer (who is a scam artist).


    I was recently notified that "sadly, we lost this dispute." Shopify does not take any accountability or offer to go to baffle their customers..I honestly don't know what the next step is for us to resolve this...

  • "SHOPIFY FRADULENT AND ILLEGAL! AVOID AT ALL COST..."

    We have had quite a lot of transactions with Shopify, but after series of very successful marketing campaign, they would not release funds for weeks, although all items were fulfilled and delivered to our customers.They are more interested in knowing more about our business proprietary information.


    Requesting more information about our souce of inventory as well as other sensitive information. All of those information, they can simply open up similar account with our suppliers and start the same business. I believe these guys are trying to steal their customer's successful business. Also, if you are a US buisness, try to avoid using Shopify because they are not US company but in Canada.


    So, there will be serious problem when there are disputes.


    I am opening case with FTC and make sure they will not do any buisness in the USA.I believe they are fradulent scammers trying to steal your money and business.

Our opinion on Shopify Plus:

With Shopify, you are not going to get effective, reliable Enterprise features and tools to operate a successful ecommerce business. Instead, you are going to get a bad inventory management system, poor and unresponsive customer service and technical support, loss of SEO and ranking when migrating, downtime, a chargeback system that will fail you and more. As you can see from the above testimonials and complaints, Shopify customers are unhappy and dissatisfied with their platform, and rightfully so. In addition, we at Shopping Cart Elite understand that the longevity of an ecommerce platform relies on innovation, listening to the needs of our customers every day, and taking compelling action to meet those needs by releasing updates and new features monthly. Shopify does not maintain the same core values.
